Dalata Ltd was established in August 2007 by TVC Holdings plc and Pat McCann as Promoters with equity support from Davy Private Clients when the operating business of eleven hotels in Ireland was purchased. In September 2008 the Company launched it's Maldron Hotels brand. Maldron Hotels now comprises ten three-star and four-star hotels in key locations throughout Ireland; it opened it's first hotel in the UK, Maldron Hotel Cardiff, in May 2011. By 2011 the Group’s parent company had evolved to become Dalata Hotel Group Ltd. The core strategy of the Company is to continue to develop the Maldron Hotels brand in both Ireland and the UK.
As a parallel strategy, in 2009, the Company formed Dalata Management Services Ltd to operate hotels on a management contract basis on behalf of asset owners; these properties become Partner Hotels within the Group. The Company now has fifteen Partner Hotels which operate across the three, four and five-star sectors in Ireland.
In total, Dalata Hotel Group currently operates 26 hotels in Ireland and the UK, with over 4500 bedrooms and circa 2500 employees, making it Ireland's largest hotel operator.
